MY RELIGION: Rule of Life

AN ANGLICAN RULE OF LIFE:
Prayer, Work, and Devotion

+ The Holy Eucharist - Daily ideally,
                                    every Sunday and Holy Day,
                                    assisting and receiving

+ The Divine Offices - Matins (morning prayer) and
                                    Vespers (evening prayer) daily,
                                    The Angelus or Regina Coeli
                                    three times every day.

+ Sacramental Confession - Quarterly as a minimum,
                                    monthly as an ideal,
                                    during Holy Hour on Saturdays
                                    or by appointment.

+ Private Prayer and Devotion - By specific rule,
15 to 30 minutes every day,
                                    one hour on Saturdays.

+ Religious Study - By specific rule,
15 to 30 minutes every day,
                                    one hour on Saturdays,
                                    Sunday and Holy Day study.

+ Feasts and Fasts - Holy Days of Obligation observed,
meatless Fridays until the ninth hour
(and Wednesdays during Advent and Lent)
(Do not make up for lost bits of food
by nipping at your brothers and sisters.)
Feasts are as much of an obligation
                                    as fasts.  Keep them, also.

+ Stewardship - Treasure, tithe to the best of one’s ability,
                                    Time and Talent given freely.

+ Evangelism - An effort to spread God’s                                                                                                                       message by Word or Deed,
                                    that can be accounted for.
This is truly the pilgrimage that
we all must take in our life
                                    in Christ

+ Orthodox and Catholic Faith and Practice -
As made evident in the Bible,
defined in the traditions of the                                                                                                                                      ecumenical councils and the creeds,

and practiced in the reason of the                                                                                                    ancient and undivided Christian Church                                                                                     as expressed in the British Isles.

In Christ's love, Fr. Robert Pax
