PRAYER: Breathing the "Our Father..."

Breathing the “Our Father…”

Minister            Let us recite together the perfect prayer:
breath in*
breath out          Our Father,                                                                      long pause
breath in            who art in heaven,                                                           pause
breath out          Hallowed be thy Name.                                                   pause
breath in            Thy kingdom come.                                                         pause
breath out          Thy will be done,                                                              pause
breath in            on earth as it is in heaven.                                               no pause
breath out          Give us this day our daily bread.                                    no pause
breath in            And forgive us our trespasses,                                        no pause
breath out          as we forgive those who trespass against us.                 no pause
breath in            And lead us not into temptation,                                    no pause
breath out          but deliver us from evil.                                                  pause
breath in                                    +++                                                            long pause
breath out          For thine is the kingdom, and the power,                      no pause
breath in            and the glory, for ever and ever.                                     no pause
breath out          Amen.                                                                                long pause
breath normally

(Note:  Think about trying to take an eight to 10 count for your breaths, in or out, you can begin to build breath capacity and control.  Having done that consistently and well, your practice will become your norm.  This is by no means a requirement to pray.  It is a way to pray with your whole self:  mind, spirit, and body.  Let yourself learn about your whole self in the worship of God.)
