Yes, I have gathered a couple more books to share with you. The first is CREDO, by William Sloane Coffin. Coffin is the controversial chaplain at Yale University. He has been honored and decried. Some see him as a publicity seeking egomaniac, and yet others see him as a prophet. The book is a collection of quotes, generally classified, from his life in writing and letters. The other book is LAYING DOWN THE SWORD: Why We Can't Ignore The Bible's Violent Verses, by Philip Jenkins. This book follows the premise that we can't condemn other religions holy writings until we come to grips with our own. Some of the most violent scriptures are found in the Old Testament. Jenkins seems to believe that if we can understand the context and style of the texts in a bigger picture we can understand their use. It seems to be pretty good scholarship, though I have some questions about some of his views. I hope you will find some use for one or the other.
In Christ's love,
Fr. Robert Pax
